Eight days on a train
Last month I had a week and a half between the end of my internship and the beginning of school, so I decided to do what any normal person would: take an eight-day transcontinental train trip across the United States.
Day One: Amtrak's Southern Crescent at Kemper Street Station in Lynchburg, Va.
Crossing the James River in Amherst, Va. on a trestle built by the Southern Railway in 1912.
Snaking along the Potomac River in West Virginia.
Day Three: Sunset on the Western edge of the Colorado Rockies.
Utah.
Days 4 & 5: Telegraph lines. Utah Desert. Pacific Ocean.
Sunrise. Mid-day. Sunset. Mid-night. 24 hours on the train.
Day 6: Dwayne Gooden and "Tori." Los Angeles, Ca.
Day 7: Travel fatigue.
Day 7: Midnight smoke stop in Cleveland, Ohio.
Thanks for looking!
