International student Gongbo Liang is pictured under a projection of Chinese characters meaning "journey," signifying the roughly 6,562 miles "as the crow flies" from Shenyang, China, to Bowling Green. Liang came to WKU in August 2009 to pursue a major in folk studies.

19 year-old trainhopper "Skooba Steve" takes a drag from his cigarette while panhandling on the 13th Street Pedestrian Mall in downtown Denver, Co. Steve and friends arrived into Denver the previous day from Fort Collins and were looking to catch a freight train South to New Orleans for Halloween.
